Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel — 6 nights

As the busy capital of São Miguel, Ponta Delgada represents the most visited place on the island. Known for its historical buildings, the city offers 17th- and 18th-century convents and churches, as well as cobbled pedestrian streets and hidden squares.
Visiting Dolphin & Whale Watching and Lagoa do Fogo will get you outdoors. Venture out of the city with trips to Farol da Ponta da Ferraria (in Ginetes) and Furnas (Poca Da Dona Beija, Caldeiras Vulcânicas, &more). Next up on the itinerary: explore the striking landscape at Caldeira das Sete Cidades, explore the activities along Furnas, experience rural life at Plantacao de Ananas dos Acores, and explore the fascinating underground world of Gruta do Carvao.

Visiting Cascata do Poco do Bacalhau and Morro Alto and Pico do Se Natural Forest Reserve will get you outdoors. There's still lots to do: explore the activities along Poco da Ribeira do Ferreiro, take in the dramatic natural features at Rocha dos Bordoes, get engrossed in the history at Museu da Fabrica da Baleia do Boqueirao, and make a trip to Miradouro do Lajedo.

Angra do Heroísmo, generally known as Angra, is a municipality and city on the island of Terceira in the Portuguese autonomous region of the Azores. Take a break from the city and head to Monte Brasil and Algar do Carvão - Monumento Natural Regional.
