The gateway to one of the largest monastery complexes in Greece, the small town of Kalambaka nestles against a landscape of imposing rock formations rising 400 m (1,300 ft) into the air.You'll get in some beach time at Koutsoupia Beach and Platia Ammos Beach. Do some cultural sightseeing at Meteora and Varlaam Monastery. When in Kalambaka, make a side trip to see Paralia Agioi Saranta in Zagora, approximately Zagora away. Drive from Delphi to Kalambaka in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and train; or take a bus. In October, Kalambaka is slightly colder than Delphi - with highs of 22°C and lows of 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Fri) early enough to drive to Thessaloniki.
