Delphi — 3 nights

Ancient Greeks revered Delphi as the center of their universe, building an impressive sanctuary to Apollo in order to mark this sacred spot.
Get a sense of the local culture at Delphi and The Tholos of Delphi. Temple of Apollo In Delphi and Byzantine Church of Agia Eleousa (Panagia Mavromantila) will appeal to history buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Delphi: Hani of Gravia (in Gravia), Hosios Loukas (in Distomo) and Apollo temple (in Tholos). And it doesn't end there: get engrossed in the history at Delphi Archaeological Museum, pause for some serene contemplation at Metamorfoseos tou Sotiros Church, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Itea Beach.

Getting from Athens to Delphi by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of train and taxi; or take a bus. Kalambaka — 4 nights

The gateway to one of the largest monastery complexes in Greece, the small town of Kalambaka nestles against a landscape of imposing rock formations rising 400 m (1,300 ft) into the air.
You'll get in some beach time at Koutsoupia Beach and Platia Ammos Beach. Do some cultural sightseeing at Meteora and Agios Stefanos. When in Kalambaka, make a side trip to see Paralia Agioi Saranta in Zagora, approximately Zagora away. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Monastery of the Great Meteoron, steep yourself in history at Agios Nikolaos Anapaphsas, tour the pleasant surroundings at Varlaam Monastery, and pause for some serene contemplation at Byzantine Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary.

You can drive from Delphi to Kalambaka in 3 hours. Other options are to do a combination of taxi and train; or take a bus. Traveling from Delphi in October, expect Kalambaka to be a bit cooler, temps between 22°C and 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Fri) so you can drive to Thessaloniki.
