The Birthplace of Democracy
One of the world's most ancient cities, Athens remains Europe's undisputed historical and cultural capital.Venture out of the city with trips to Nafplio (Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation, Fortress Palamidi, &more), Corinth (Akrokorinthos, Archea Korinthos, &more) and Archaeological Site Mycenae (in Mycenae). There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Acropolis of Athens, take an in-depth tour of Acropolis Museum, stop by Plaka, and take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Lycabettus.
