One of the world's most ancient cities, Athens remains Europe's undisputed historical and cultural capital.

Acropolis Museum and Benaki Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Get some historical perspective at Acropolis of Athens and Erechtheion. Step out of Athens to go to Sounio and see Temple of Poseidon, which is approximately 1h 15 min away. There's much more to do: take a stroll through Plaka, admire the masterpieces at National Archaeological Museum, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Lycabettus, and appreciate the history behind Temple of Olympian Zeus.

If you are flying in from Singapore, the closest major aiports are Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, Skiathos Island National Airport and Mikonos Airport. In December, plan for daily highs up to 17°C, and evening lows to 9°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Tue) so you can catch the ferry to Aegina.

Aegina is one of the Saronic Islands of Greece in the Saronic Gulf, 27km from Athens. Kick off your visit on the 12th (Wed): explore the world behind art at Musee Christos Capralos and then kick back and relax at Moni Island Beach. On the next day, pause for some serene contemplation at Church Saint Nicholas the Thalassinos, stroll through Paralia Marathona, then steep yourself in history at Temple of Aphaia, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Agios Minas Monastery.

Traveling by ferry from Athens to Aegina takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can ride a ferry; or do a combination of taxi and ferry. December in Aegina sees daily highs of 17°C and lows of 9°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 14th (Fri) to allow time for the ferry ride back home.
