Built in the first century CE, Arena di Verona--one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters--has served as an opera venue since 1913. Thanks to the amphitheater's incredible acoustics, electronic microphones were not used here they were finally installed as a sound reinforcement system in 2011. The arena has hosted Alicia Keys, The Who, and Pearl Jam, as well as some of the world's most noteworthy conductors and opera singers. Sitting in the stands, you'll be transported back to Roman times when more than 30,000 people filled the seats to watch shows and games. Must see when visiting Verona, but I am not sure if it is worth the ticket to go inside without a guide. We did not enter inside, but walking around is good.

DO NOT TRAVEL ONLY FOR A PLAY. The place is incredible; you only need to see the pictures and the acoustic is fantastic. Just be aware this is an open theater so if it there some rain, it does not matter how little, the show will stop! That will wait up to 2hrs to continue, but if the rain does not stop the play will be cancelled. This place should be in your check list if you are staying for at least a couples of days so you can enjoy something else if the show got cancelled.

Amazing age and history. But not much to see. It's a large Colosseum just like you see in History shows. But no other things like chariots or gladiator stuff. Just the giant circle of stone and the amphitheater itself. Still kinda cool!
