Shri Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, Tapovan

A spiritual place around 29 km from rishikesh. Many devotees come there to worship Lord Shiva. There is no particular parking area, you have to park on the road side. Roads are available till the temple. A bit of improvement is required to make the place more beautiful and clean.

Neelkanth is an ancient temple, it is said that this is the same place where Lord Shiva drank the poison emanating from the ocean. If you have your own vehicle then you can go very comfortably. If you do not have your own vehicle then you will have to taxi, sharing autos do not go that high. Please DRIVE CAREFULLY because the road is too short and very sharp and curved turnings are there also , Don’t drink and drive . However, it is thoroughly miss managed. There are numerous shops all around which completely obscure the temple. Direction to temple can be be confusing if you ask shopkeepers. Do not remove your shoes too soon as every shopkeeper offers/asks you to remove shoes.If you do make sure you remember which you removed your shoes at. Better take picture of shop and lane. Little bit rough n tough journey for heart patient and old age people. At an altitude of approx. 7,000 ft. you feel in the lap of natural beauty.
