Create an itinerary including The Windmills (Kato Milli)
The Windmills (Kato Milli) are the first thing approaching ships see on arrival to Mykonos. Many of the windmills were constructed by the Venetians in the 16th century. From the time they were built until the mid-20th century, these structures fueled the local economy by grinding wheat. Although the mills' grinding days are over, they remain much loved by the locals. Just below this spot you'll find cafes and restaurants that serve local fare where you can admire a view of the windmills and the sea. Although you cannot enter the windmills, you can approach them for photographs. • Definitely walk up and look around totally worth it. They are the original windmills but are no longer functioning.

  • Thé windmills look better from far away. When we walked around it was hit and also smelled from the garbage dumpster right next to it. The shore around was dirty and bottles and plastic was floating.....  more

  • This is Nikos. Visit him to go inside his windmill home. If he is there, his door will be open. And see the inside of the windmill and it’s gears. It is the only windmill that can still work. Donate to his donation box to help him with the windmills upkeep.
  • The place is wonderful for the sea and landscape seeing. It should be cared much more because is not so clean and well maintained. But it's worth visiting.
