Create an itinerary including Corinth Canal
Pass through Corinth Canal, one of the world's tightest navigable waterways, which separates the Peloponnese Peninsula from the rest of the Greek mainland. Before the canal's completion at the end of the 19th century, ships sailing between the Adriatic and the Aegean had to circumnavigate the peninsula, adding nearly 320 km (180 mi) to their journey. The waterway is just over 6 km (4 mi) long and only 21 m (70 ft) wide. Much too narrow to accommodate modern ocean freighters, this channel now mostly services tourist ships, attracting curious visitors from around the world. Make Corinth Canal a centerpiece of your Loutraki vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Loutraki planning app.

  • Great work of engineering, it's always interesting to see how mankind has the power to change nature in such a powerful way as to open a new passage in solid rock. It seems like a wreak in the rock...

  • We stopped here at the 19th C bridge for the classic view(we had photographed in 1989 while traveling with our daughter) of the 300’ deep and 4 mile long canal, joining many visitors running to snap....  more

  • One of the greatest engineering accomplishment in Greece, well worth it for a short stop, especially when you see big ships crossing through the passage.
  • Pretty steep and frightening if you’re afraid. Also you can bungee jump during the season 😂
