Create an itinerary including Théâtre gallo-romain
Ten thousand Roman spectators once occupied the seats of Théâtre gallo-romain; now, the theater is a historian's playground. Walk on the stage and become Nero performing in front of his reluctant audience, or Cicero inspiring his people. Alternatively, sit in the stone aisles and imagine a spectacle of Roman gods from a citizen's view. In either case, you'll be awed by the lost glory of Rome. Using our online itinerary creator, Lyon attractions like Théâtre gallo-romain can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Worth a visit for sure. Take the funicular and take the time to also visit their garden area. Steps down to base level had no handrail, but site is worth walking through.

  • As the others have said, I did not appreciate how Close that the Theatres Remains de Fourviere is to the Cathedral, (which you can see from all over Lyon). Best advise is to go UP to the cathedral.....  more

  • The ruins are excavated, cleaned, and exposed which is amazing. There's little info provided on what exactly you are looking for besides those rare few tablets. The archaeologists have a long way to go.
  • Beautiful Roman amphitheatre proving incredible views over Lyon and the surrounding area. Free to visit though a fee is required to go to the museum. Definitely worth taking the funicular railway to get there though as it'd be a steep walk!
