The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.
Get in touch with nature at Praia da Cordoama and Ponta da Piedade. Visit Praia Da Rocha and Praia do Camilo for some beach relaxation. Change things up with these side-trips from Lagos: Praia da Marinha (in Caramujeira), Carvoeiro Boardwalk (in Carvoeiro) and Bordeira Beach (in Carrapateira). The adventure continues: enjoy the sand and surf at Praia dos Tres Irmaos, tour the pleasant surroundings at Castelo Beach, paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, and get outside with Praia do Castelejo.

Manchester, UK to Lagos is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and bus; or do a combination of car and train. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Manchester in July, with highs in Lagos at 34°C and lows at 23°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Tavira.

Tavira has succeeded at escaping the flood of tourism that has affected other coastal Portuguese towns over the years.
Step out of the city life by going to Praia da Alagoa and Praia Verde. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Garrao Nascente Beach and Praia de Cacela Velha. When in Tavira, make a side trip to see Roman Ruins of Milreu in Estoi, approximately Estoi away. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Cabanas de Tavira Beach, contemplate the long history of Fortaleza de Cacela, head outdoors with Praia da Terra Estreita, and pause for some serene contemplation at Igreja de Sao Pedro Goncalves Telmo.

Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Visit Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Castelo de S. Jorge for their historical value. Explore Lisbon's surroundings by going to Sintra (Quinta da Regaleira, Sintra National Palace, &more). There's still lots to do: get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Lisbon Oceanarium, take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, wander the streets of Alfama, and don't miss a visit to Belém Tower.

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Get outdoors at River Rafting & Tubing and Jardim Municipal do Horto das Virtudes. Your inner history buff will appreciate Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral) and Torre dos Clerigos.
