Delphi

Ancient Greeks revered Delphi as the center of their universe, building an impressive sanctuary to Apollo in order to mark this sacred spot.
Get a sense of the local culture at Delphi and Temple of Apollo In Delphi. Hosios Loukas and Tholos will appeal to history buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Delphi: Hani of Gravia (in Gravia) and Apollo temple (in Tholos). And it doesn't end there: take an in-depth tour of Delphi Archaeological Museum, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Byzantine Church of Agia Eleousa (Panagia Mavromantila), and stroll through Itea Beach.

Getting from Athens to Delphi by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of train and taxi; or take a bus. Kalambaka

The gateway to one of the largest monastery complexes in Greece, the small town of Kalambaka nestles against a landscape of imposing rock formations rising 400 m (1,300 ft) into the air. Nearly leveled during World War II, the town rebuilt and reinvented itself in the post-war period, quickly becoming one of the region's major travel destinations.
You'll get in some beach time at Koutsoupia Beach and Platia Ammos Beach. Do some cultural sightseeing at Meteora and Agios Stefanos. When in Kalambaka, make a side trip to see Agioi Saranta in Chorefto, approximately Chorefto away. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Monastery of the Great Meteoron, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Byzantine Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, steep yourself in history at Roussanou Monastery, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Varlaam Monastery.

Drive from Delphi to Kalambaka in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and train; or take a bus. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Delphi in October: high temperatures in Kalambaka hover around 22°C and lows are around 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 18th (Fri) so you can go by car to Thessaloniki.
