Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Scrovegni Chapel and Cannaregio. Your inner history buff will appreciate Basilica di San Marco and St. Mark's Square. Change things up with a short trip to Basilica di Sant’Antonio in Padua (about 54 minutes away). There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Doge's Palace, wander the streets of Campo del Ghetto, admire the masterpieces at Ca' d'Oro, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Basilica Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari.
