Playa El Bollullo, Puerto de la Cruz

#2 of 21 in Outdoors in Puerto de la Cruz
Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
The dark, soft sand of Playa El Bollullo is a product of volcanic activity millions of years ago. You'll see evidence of this in the tall, jagged cliffs and rocks along the borders of the beach. The only facilities are a small cafe serving tapas and bocadillos, or sandwiches, so this strip of sand stays relatively quiet even during peak tourist season. A 30-minute walk from Puerto de la Cruz will get you the water's edge. Be careful of strong currents and waves when swimming. • Nice place to sit and watch the ocean. Black sand and a busy beach with surfers. Nice restaurant on the beach where we had lunch one day.  more »
  • Well worth a walk to admire the views - wear sensible shoes and make sure you take water . Very pleasant walk.  more »
  • Nice beach in North Tenerife, a little bit hard to reach, especially if a truck goes in the opposite direction than you in the 2.5 m wide road.
  • Very nice beach with a strand-bar. The way down can be a bit tricky but doable.
