Puerta de Toledo, Madrid

Marvel at this grand 19 m (62 ft) gate opened in 1827. Puerta de Toledo was originally ordered by Joseph Bonaparte. After the withdrawal of French troops from Spain, the construction continued, and the gate was finished under the rule of King Fernando VII. Admire the decoration that sits on top of each of the three neoclassical arches. Look for the coat of arms of Madrid and the allegory of Hispania, the national personification of Spain. • One of the gateways to the city. Dating back to the 19th century. Particularly that of Alcalá attracts me more by his situation but this has "grace" which is the song of "$" that bears his name. It is good but not essential.
