Spanning an area of 87 hectares (215 acres), Parque del Oeste is home to a beautiful rose garden. Inhaling the scent of the roses, it is difficult to imagine that this was once the site of a landfill. Thanks to Alberto Aquilera, a 20th-century mayor of Madrid, the public can now enjoy these landscaped grounds and pathways. The park houses the Temple of Debod, a gift from the people of Egypt to the people of Spain, reconstructed in the park in 1968 and rising ephemerally from a pool of water. Other monuments are scattered throughout the area, complementing the harmony of the landscaping. Hyggelig lille park hvor mange lokale kommer for at motionere og lufte hunde. Vi gik efter svævebanen som var ret nem at finde. more »Nice little park where many locals come to exercise and air dogs. We went after the cable car which was pretty easy to find.
Great view on the royal palace. Old temple with huge line and people blocking the photos of other. some ppl spend quite a long time in those monuments taking plenty of photos, but that's fine. However when they finished, instead of moving from the sight they stood watching the photos they just took. Anyway, temple from the outside at this time didn't have water.
I loved visiting this park both times I have been in Madrid. The last time I was there I was super bummed to see they had drained the water around the Egyptian temple. When I was there the first time you could walk through the temple. The last time I was there everything was closed and the water drained. There is also an awesome view to in the back of the temple that overlooks a good piece of Madrid.
