Palacio De Cristal originally served as a greenhouse for exotic plants, but now houses art exhibits sponsored by the Reina Sofia. Built entirely of iron and glass, it reaches 22 m (72 ft) at its highest. Watch ducks and geese swim in pond next to the structure and walk around the pond to get views of the palace from a distance. Bring a picnic and rest in the grass in the surrounding park. Put Palacio De Cristal at the forefront of your travel plans using our Madrid trip itinerary builder tool .

  • It is located in Retiro Park and at the back of the pond, so it is a photo-shown spot. When I went there, i didn't have any other customers, so I was able to take a picture of it. There were exhibits inside, but they were no longer close to the exhibits, and it was almost like seeing them from the entrance.

  • It's a must when you're in the retreat, it's super nice and original. We loved it, it is well preserved and richly decorated.

  • Palacio de Cristal is beautiful at any time of the day and any season. I’ve been visited it two times and would visit again next time! Beauty of this place is fantastic as inside as outside, where u can see a lake with swans and ducks, fountain and of course a nice green area. The only negative part is a lot of tourists but well, u cant avoid it.
  • A beautiful clear glass structure in the park. We came right during sunset, which gave the building a beautiful glow. We didn't go inside to see the art, but the outside is beautiful for photos and there is a little pond that is nice to sit next to. Some times there are some vendors in the area as well. The only thing is that because it is called a "palace", I expected it to be a bit larger, but it is still very pretty.
