Palacio De Cristal originally served as a greenhouse for exotic plants, but now houses art exhibits sponsored by the Reina Sofia. Built entirely of iron and glass, it reaches 22 m (72 ft) at its highest. Watch ducks and geese swim in pond next to the structure and walk around the pond to get views of the palace from a distance. Bring a picnic and rest in the grass in the surrounding park. Put Palacio De Cristal at the forefront of your travel plans using our Madrid trip itinerary builder tool .

  • Another of the many other attractions in Parque del Retiro, the Crystal Palace is really very interesting. I'd say much more for what surrounds you than the construction itself. Harmony with nature makes the place a must-see point to enjoy the surroundings, as well as having fun with the constate attempt of turtles to climb the stairs in front of the palace.

  • It's a big attrium like structure with art installations inside it. It's a good place to chill. There is a small pond with a beautiful fountain in the center. There are lots of turtles and ducks. A cute hangout place. Definitely a place to visit when you are in Madrid
  • Very pretty and had an impressive temporary display of sculptures inside during our visit. Also, free to visit, which is nice. Requires a good stroll through the park to find it.
