Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales, Madrid

3.2
Both a research facility and an exhibition space, Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales is at the forefront of paleobiology and geology; it is also one of the first museums of natural history in the world. The exhibits range from ancient artifacts to recent finds currently being studied by on-site researchers. Exhibits are located primarily on the ground and first floors in a series of themed rooms. In these, you'll notice prehistory, paleontology, geology, and entomology sections, and one for decorative arts. This last unexpected treat is a must see for textile enthusiasts. Check the hours on the website before visiting, as they change during festivals, holidays, and weekends. • Bit of a trek to get too, not well signed either for an attraction. There are two buildings which make up the museum. You buy your ticket at the first, this gives you access to the second building...  more »

  • An excellent choice of museum if you're looking to change directions from the more artistic traditional museums in Madrid. They have a wide variety of animals from all realms in very interesting displays. I went with four kids (four and under) and they were amazed with every single animal and dinosaur fossil there was. Also very affordable and they have lots of discounts.
  • Amazing science museum. So much to do and see. All of it is hands on for the kids. Areas good for many different ages, including just some areas for them to climb and explore. Kids really enjoyed some of the actual experiments you could do especially the non Newtonian fluid. There are various shows throughout the day both in movies and live. We saw the Kaboom show about explosions that was a big hit with the 4 year old and the laser light show projected in the dome with "summer" music. Absolutely will be going back to see it all. Best to come early because it's not very crowded at all at open time so much easier to get to do whatever you want at that time.
