  • Small park (1.74 Ha) south of Calle de Segovia and west of Calle de Bailen, built in 1932 and later re-arranged in 1945. Slightly sloping towards the Manzanarre, it is enriched by 2 cute fountains, there are antique-style lampposts, curious seats, the granite statue of Ignacio Zuloaga, geometric flowerbed arranged in practice and several trees; at the beginning of the park there is the famous statue of La Violetera. The initial part, the highest part, is certainly not beautiful, because it is basically a large uncovered cemented rectangle; past this rectangle you enter the real park. The gardens are facing west, so I read that you come here for sunsets: the view is not exceptional, however, because the trees have grown and what you see are nothing but houses; in any case there is the view on the apse of the cathedral and in the distance on the also sees the lighthouse of Moncloa. It seems that the park is much loved by Madridians, but when we were there there were very few people (it was almost lunchtime). The park then found it quiet but also dirty, especially very smeared. Finding the entrance is not easy, also because the whole hill where this park is located is still set to green. Coming from the cathedral, on call and Bailen, just past the bridge turn to dx on calle de La Moreria that you will have to walk to the statue (a dx) of La Violetera: descending to dx near the statue you will enter the park. Alternatively, continue on calle de Bailen until you meet calle de Don Pedro that you will take to dx and you will walk all the way to the intersection with Calle de Beatriz Galindo: the entrance is right at this intersection. The park is open 24 hours a day.

  • Not at all what we expected! I can see that at some point this park was beautiful but now it looks NOTHING like those beautiful pics! Now it’s full of graffiti and homeless people sleeping all over the place. The fountain was nasty and the smell was awful! Don’t waste your time visiting this place!
  • Nice place to relax and take a break from the sun. Not much grass but enough shade and benches. Bring lunch for a small picnic. On a hill and overlooks the outskirts of Madrid. Very beautiful.
