  • Church located in the La Latina district, between plaza de la Paja and plaza de Los Carros. A building that had a troubled history: already present a church in the style of mudejar in the 12th century, was then completely transformed in the 15th century and especially in the 17th century, with the construction of the chapel of San Isidro, which would have welcomed the remains of the Saint (who now collegiate). After the looting and destruction of the Civil War, the building was redone in the 20th century (the last touches are from 1991), but trying to stay true to the Baroque aspect of the 17th century. Externally the facade of the church is not visible, while you can observe the other 3 sides, the side walls, where 4 portals are opened (of which 2 most important, characterized by sculptures, columns and bas-reliefs) and the apse that proposes on plaza de Los carros (and which is the best part, because it allows you to observe the beautiful baroque dome). You enter from the dx side, entering first into a small garden. Inside a single aisle, narrow but long enough, I would say ordinary, without any merit. What should be seen instead is the amazing presbytery, which is located all under the dome and which occupies what was once the chapel of San Isidro of the 17th century church. The lower part is beautiful, with the black columns bearing bases and capitals in gold color, overlaid with a golden frieze running along the walls; then even more on the rich multicolored decorations of the lunettes and the dome: plastic decoration with embossed elements consisting of floral motifs, fruits, putti and various decorations. The whole thing makes the environment beautiful. I'm sorry I can't attach photos of the interior because it's forbidden to do them. The church is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; attention to the SS. Masses that are at 11 am and 7 pm in work days and 11, 12 and 13 on holidays; Sunday afternoon the church is closed.

  • It deserves to climb up here to visit this authentic Baroque gem as you notice in the photos I attach. The exteriors are simple and delineated only by the pink color while inside in addition to the rich altar it should be observed the wonderful dome is embellished with gold friezes and multicolored glazes between pink and green.
