Fuente de Neptuno is an iconic marble fountain representing Neptune, god of the sea, holding a trident and coiled snake. Walk around the fountain and view the water spouting from the dolphins and other sea animals pulling his chariot, and appreciate the architecture and culture surrounding the sculpture. Finished in 1786, this statue has been used for several political demonstrations, and is also where the victories of Atlético de Madrid Football Club are celebrated. Tip: You don’t need to worry about catching the statue before sunset; some visitors even prefer the lighting of the fountain after dark. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Madrid holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Fuente de Neptuno and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • I liked all the majestic fountains border the roundabouts of the Paseo del Prado. The architecture is quite similar and in this case Neptune is depicted on a shell-shaped chariot pulled by two horses in water in form of fish. Holds the Trident in hand and on the other a snake draped over her arm. It was built in 1777 by Ventura Perez. The water flows from several parts in huge circular tank. Reference point for fans of the team of Atlético Madrid celebrating great victories here while that of Cybele do Real ones. I am attaching some pictures I'm glad to know if I have been helpful and so I appreciate if you click below on: is it useful? Thanks:)

  • A classic of la Castellana. Place of worship of the athletic, who recently visit it more often. Located beside the also emblematic Plaza of allegiance. It represents the mythological God being one of the highlights of la Castellana in Madrid. It is worth stopping to see it.

  • Very nice monument, we were always passing by on the way to hotel. This zone related to a modern Madrid so if u take a touristic bus (Hop on hop off) u can find this monument on a green route.
  • It is hard to see because there is huge roundabout with like 3 lines and it makes it hard to see it fully. Only option is to have a photo from pretty far away.
