An important geosite of the Azores UNESCO Global Geopark, Caldeira Velha Environmental Interpretation Centre, features a thermal spring that feeds two natural pools with temperatures of 27 C (80 F) and 38 C (100 F). Before donning your bathing suite and bathing the warm waters, stop into the interpretation center to learn about the geological origins, geodiversity, and biodiversity of the Azores and to peruse the samples of endemic plant life and rocks. The onsite 320 m (960 ft) Water Spring Walking Trail provides a fine warmup for your soak in the geothermal pools surrounded by dense and diverse vegetation. To protect the ecologically fragile area from mass tourism, the center keeps guided under the auspices of one its own technicians.     The whole area is very beautiful well maintained. The path leading to the thermal pool is really nice. Pure nature! The fee is minimal which is valid for a few hours, which is actually enough. The...  more »

    This is my favorite nature hotspring on the entire island. There’s a lot to explore inside the park, a couple of hours should be enough to explore the waterfall and enjoy the hotspring.  more »

    amazing place. if you come to azores please don't forget to visit bring swimwear nature hot tube

    I had a 10/10 experience here last winter, there were only a few people who were enjoying the hot springs, it was so nice and relaxing. However, when I went back this year I was surrounded by a ton of tourists trying to get the best shot of themselves with their selfie sticks (probably for instagram) :/ It feels more like a tourist trap now than somewhere you would go to relax. I guess you have to carefully plan the time and day you go there.
