You'll feel a chilling sense of tragedy as you gaze down from Suicide Cliff (Tinian), where hundreds of Japanese citizens and soldiers ended their lives in 1944. After realizing their country would lose the battle with U.S. forces, many Japanese residents of Tinian--including women and children--jumped off the cliff, their deaths made certain by the rocks and crashing waves below. • At the extreme south-east part of Tinian, the area is home to ocean, cliffs, and shrines to those who died here. A very peaceful setting today.  more »
  • I visited this stunning location on Tinian as part of a WWII history trip with my wife. This spot was both beautiful and somber. A must see stop for WWII history buffs.  more »
